Celebrate the summer solstice by making a fancy Victorian style shell work pin cushion out of scallop shells and hand-dyed velvet.
Student will need to supply a sharp needle for hand sewing and #3 or # 5 Pearl cotton or similar (model uses Trebizond silk #635 Mockingbird but you can use something from your stash if desired). If the student wishes, a selection of beads can decorate the pin cushion using the fine pins. Left over pearl cotton can make a matching tassel or the student can provide ribbon or cord.
The $9 kit includes scallop shells with drilled holes, wool roving for stuffing, 3” doll needle, Iris super fine pins and salmon colored hand-dyed velvet. Deadline to sign up is June 6th. See June ASG Newsletter for more information.
