An outgrowth of a small group of local needlepointers, the Austin Stitchery Guild became a chapter of The Embroiderers' Guild of America, Inc., in January 1976, with only 35 members. With a membership in excess of 200, Guild members' interest encompass many areas of embroidery, including needlepoint, counted cross stitch, blackwork, quilting, applique, smocking, French handsewing, drawn and pulled thread work, Hardanger embroidery, and more.

Since 1976, the guild has held fifteen successful Needlework Festivals, which have made possible workshops with nationally recognized experts in a variety of stitching techniques. Stitchers of all levels of ability are welcome. Lectures, workshops, correspondence courses, national and regional seminars, exhibits, and study/interest groups are offered. All chapter members are invited to attend any chapter activity.  Come see what we're about!
